Special Education is an area of education that has changed dramatically over the past few years.  The intention of Special Education is to provide individualized education plans for those students identified as having specific needs or disabilities.    Minnesota has specified main areas of  disabilities in Special Education.  The state has also established specific guidelines to qualify students, testing requirements and service requirements for each category.

The main areas of Special Education are:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Blind-Visually Impaired
  • Deaf-Blind
  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Developmental Cognitive Disabilities
  • Developmental Delay
  • Emotional or Behavior Disorders
  • Other Health Disabilities
  • Physically Impaired
  • Specific Learning Disabilities
  • Speech or Language Impairments
  • Traumatic Brain Injuries

Special Education is here to help our students.  If you have any questions about students, please contact me at school.  All information is confidential.  I can be reached at 507-493-5423 ext. 112 between 7:15 and 3:15 each school day.
