Attendance Policy
***ABSENTEE REMINDER***
This reminder is to all students and their parents/guardians. The following are the approved excused absences stated in the Student Handbook (as well as directed by the MN Department of Education):
...Illness
...Serious illness in the student's immediate family.
...A death in the student's immediate family or of a close friend or relative.
...Required court appearances.
...Religious instruction not to exceed 3 hours per week.
...Physical emergency conditions such as fire, flood, storm, etc
...Medical or dental treatment
...Official school field trip or other school-sponsored outings.
...Removal of a student pursuant to a suspension
...Family vacations--only with prior approval and with all assigned make-up work completed in advance.
...Personal trips to schools or colleges (two per year during the Junior & Senior years)

Parental approval DOES NOT necessarily give an automatic "excused" absence for the student. If the student's absence does not fall within these guidelines, the absence will be noted as unexcused on the student's record. If there is an extended illness, a doctor's note of verification will be required. Other forms of documentation for an extended absence may be required on a case by case basis.
